Carlo Zottmann, Flensburg.

AI consulting for SMEs, from Flensburg, Germany.

AI that helps day to day, sans the hype.

Hi, I'm Carlo. I help small and medium-sized businesses find sensible ways to use AI and automation. I've used these tools in my own work every day for years. I explain what the technology can and can't do, without the jargon.

Let's talk about it

Software should make work simpler, not more complicated.

01 / How I help

What works for you?
And what can go?

01

Use AI sensibly

You don't need to chase every new AI product. What matters is the work you need to do and whether AI actually helps. I help you judge what it can and can't do for your everyday work.

02

Give your team the skills

Your team knows their work. That knowledge still matters: for giving AI useful tasks and judging its results. I teach the basics so people can spot what they could make simpler themselves. I want to help people help themselves, rather than create new dependencies.

03

Automate your own workflows

Not every improvement needs a big IT project! Even at your own desk, there are repetitive tasks you can make simpler: filing invoices from emails, giving PDFs useful names or taking information from them. You don't always need AI for that.

04

… but keep control

AI is software. You need to know where data goes, what a tool can access and who checks the results.

of what I'm working on.

AI in my own business

A moderation boost for the forum

The support forum for my apps was flooded with hundreds of new bot accounts and lots of spam posts. The existing moderation tools simply weren't enough. A small AI integration that checks new accounts and posts before they go live solved the problem completely. It runs around the clock for a few cents a month.

03 / Experience helps

I've been doing this
for a while.

Founder, CTO, team lead, developer, tinkerer, hardware hacker: I've seen technology from many angles. That experience helps me see the bigger picture and explain things to people without a technical background.

My proudest professional achievement is RECUP. From 2017 to 2022, I got to help build Germany's largest deposit-return system for reusable takeaway containers as a co-founder, CTO and all-rounder, alongside some wonderful people. Those were good years.

Other roles and projects: Yahoo, ProSiebenSat.1, gutefrage.net, carpooling.com, AutoScout24 and Tomorrow Focus. Today, I also develop my own apps for macOS and iOS and open-source tools and libraries.

04 / What matters to me

I enjoy working with people who care about society, sustainability and the long term. Who want to solve real problems, and can admit: "I don't know."

Growth at any cost, crypto and productivity hustle aren't my thing.
